About Horizons
More than safe spaces — co-designed, inclusive, family-focused.
A therapeutic short breaks programme by Care Consort Ltd. For young people aged 13–15 and 16+ with SEND and additional needs.
Helping young people thrive, not just attend.
Safe, structured, creative experiences that build confidence, friendships, and independence — run by SEND-trained, trauma-aware staff.
Short breaks should be more than safe spaces. Ours are co-designed with young people and built on family partnership.
“Every young person deserves friendship, fun, and the chance to build their future.”
How we operate
Four values that shape every session.
SEND-trained & trauma-aware
Staff trained in SEND and SEMH education. It shapes how we plan, run, and review — not a bolted-on module.
Co-designed with young people
Young Ambassadors shape sessions and mentor newer members. A peer-led progression pathway.
Built on family partnership
Regular updates, showcases, coffee mornings. Respite works better when everyone sees the same picture.
Inclusive and future-focused
Adaptive tools, sensory supports, assistive tech in every session. Preparing for Adulthood is the north star.
Innovation at Horizons
Three ways we keep raising the bar.
Young Ambassadors
Give young people a real voice in shaping Horizons. Share feedback, design activities, and celebrate achievements. Older members mentor younger ones.
Accessibility for All
Adaptive tools and sensory supports built into every session. Staff trained in communication-friendly approaches. We explore assistive and digital technologies so every young person can take part fully.
Partnership with Parents & Carers
Regular updates, invitations to showcases, coffee mornings and parent panels. Short breaks that give confidence and respite as young people grow in independence.
